Personally speaking, I hate any type of time constrains that a game puts on us where we only have a certain amount of time before the game ends as it takes away my freedom of enjoying the game at my own pace and makes us follow it's pace. Once you run out of energy, you'll have to rest and advance the time, which in turn advances the story. It uses an energy system where you have 10 points of energy and doing the tasks require varying amounts of energy. This is also where you can raise affection points or initiate events which will decide your ending. The "Role playing" mode is where you spend most of your time in-game where you'll train your character in several different ways to increase stats for either combat or events.
Tale of wuxia romance guide free#
I will not spend time explaining the free roam and battle since they are pretty self explanatory.
It has 3 different modes namely Free roam, battle and "role playing". The gameplay is easily the best part of the game. You could easily get a few hundreds of hours worth of playtime if you want. There are several different endings and sub endings and several romance options. There are several character builds and the dialogue options don't just give you an illusion of choice, it mostly has some effect one way or another. In about 39 hours, I completed a single playthrough of the game and I missed a lot of stuff. This is a game with tons of replayability. If you are okay with the problems that I have specified for the translations, then it's not gonna get any worse. The translations are okay at best and moon runes at worst, but in no way is the game unplayable because of it. This is most likely because it runs out of space and the dialogue was only meant to be a single box and the font of the text remains the same instead of being reduced to fit in. The texts sometimes suddenly get cut off in between or overlaps with one another in menus which makes it really hard to see. "Tale of Wuxia has been dedicated to providing gameplayers with a player-defined platform, where they can" The translation gets really rough when it comes to poems and the like (pretty understandable tbf) which sometimes turns up in events where you'll have to answer correctly, and they'll sometimes even tell you which are the correct answers given in brackets in the question itself. This isn't game breaking by any means, but for a game based on time management, i'd expect to at least know how much time i have to plan around it. This is just one example and there are several instances like this. How do I know what hour of Wu is supposed to be. "The celebrations will begin at the Hour of Wu" One problem that pops up is that sometimes the Chinese characters are translated in English but the word itself isn't. Thankfully, 95% of the time you'll only miss some lore/story and not some important area or item you'll need to know to proceed. Some of the text are even left untranslated and you'll have no idea what they said. The level is wildly inconsistent and you'll sometimes experience all these levels at once in a single conversation. The text ranges from okay English to readable to google translate and back to Chinese. It's not a problem for me as I've even read some untranslated novels through google translate but i understand if some may be turned off by it. This is literally a text from the game around the beginning of the game and shows you the level of English you'll need to expect. "Wait, have you smelled a strange taste?". This is the biggest problem most people have with the game and that is abundantly clear. Let's talk about the translation right off the bat and get it out of the way. This review is mostly for the English only speaking audience.
I will mostly talk about the glaring issues because without it, I'm pretty sure you'd have already bought it by now. To any of you that are on the the fence about buying this game, I will try to help you come to a decision and finally give my opinion on it.
